Season 7 is here and I while I am so incredibly excited in my little bubble about the amazing conversations I've had lately, I just wish it wasn't coming at a time when our democracy is in a nose-dive and people are terrified every single day.
The way we humans treat animals enables us to treat fellow humans the same way. We have to stop normalizing the violence on our plates, the terror that meat eaters consume multiple times a day in the form of the muscle of a once living, breathing, feeling someone.
So, I will continue to use my voice, this platform, these interviews to show others there is another way. There is a kinder option, a gentler way to live. We should use our skills to improve the world around us, not destroy it.
I hope you enjoy this interview with vegan psychologist, Clare Mann, author of Vystopia.
Vystopia - the anguish of being vegan in a non-vegan world
We of course cover Clare's vegan journey and capture her thoughts on hummus but we also dig into this concept of Vystopia, turning this experience into action by finding meaningful work using the skills you already have can help lift this experience of vystopia.
Clare's number 1 tip for vegans when speaking with non-vegans, ask more than you tell. Ask them questions to understand what they already know, where they are at in that current moment, and where the motivation for their questions stems. Once you've determined they are genuinely curious, then ask if you can share the info that will answer their question.
You can listen to Clare's episode on my website here or wherever you get your pods.

I’m approaching this as an occasional meat eater. While Switzerland has strong animal welfare standards, this discussion makes me pause at a deeper level.
Beyond how animals are treated, I keep coming back to whether humans have the right to make that decision for them at all, or whether “we’ve always done it this way” is just a story we tell ourselves to avoid questioning it.
I've mention to you before I'm not Vegan but every blog I read from you sparks more interest.
I'd like to try to be partly vegan. To be honest, I'd rather be eating vegetables than pork meats.
