Ahhhh, you guys!!! (FYI, guys is one of the New Jersey all-gender terms) I did it!!! You might remember that on day 1 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge I was very unsure that I would be able to complete 31 blogs in 31 days as the last two rounds I didn't get close. Here I am, 31 blogs complete.
What made this time different? I planned ahead. I wrote blogs the night before and scheduled their release. The first 5 blogs I wrote all on December 30th. I also created a UBC tracker in a google sheet with the following columns:
Month | Topic | Status | Day | Comments to be used for future blogs | Due on |
I spent some time ahead of the blog challenge thinking about a theme or a focus which really helped with the topics. I came up with ideas but was flexible, if I was feeling stuck or not interested in the topic I didn't force it, I moved it to another day on the tracker and came up with something else for that day. It felt really good to go back to the tracker each morning and mark the post as posted. I committed to getting this done, and I did.
The blogs also gave me a chance to highlight some of the work I do like the morning show (That Vegan Morning Show), my podcast (Did You Bring the Hummus, also available on your favorite podcast app), and meditations (Meditation with Kimberly).
I'm looking forward to the next UBC, April is Earth Month and I love talking about that. Even as a kid Earth Day was one of my favorite days of the year. I absolutely love celebrating this beautiful marble we live upon. I expect there will be more talk about some of the common Earth Day themes like over-consumption, destruction of the Rain Forest, and other sad things. There will also be more food talk and vegan stuff as a whole.
Enough about the future, I am still celebrating now! To my fellow UBCers, we did it!! I have really enjoyed reading your musings, teachings, and getting to know you through your stories. I am thankful for the truly thoughtful comments, I hope you know that I go back and comment on all of them so if you are looking for a conversation in the comments, you're getting one! :-)
At the end of every UBC I say I hope to keep blogging between challenges, but, I never do. Maybe there will be a sporadic one here and there but if not, I will for sure see you in April! And, while you wait, why not pull up the Did You Bring the Hummus Podcast wherever you get your pods and catch up! New episode coming Monday!!
I'd love to hear what your favorite topic or blog was or what you'd like to read about in a future blog.
Thanks again for reading!
I am looking for guests for season 7! If you are a vegan, please fill out the "Be a guest" quiz on my website here. If you're not a vegan but know someone who would be a great guest, please send them that link.

Woot - congratulations 🎊 👏 💐
I only missed a few days this round, and am pretty chuffed as well!!
I love the Cherokee term ᏂᎦᏛ (ni-ga-dv : all, everyone, whole, unanimous) which has been adapted into ᎩᎵᏏ (gi-li-si / English) by many in the South: you-all!! Cherokee is such a lovely, inclusive language!
Your idea of a tracker is good - especially noting comments you want to weave future posts around! I've done mine on paper, and jot a list of topics to explore. l love the search feature in my blogs, so i can 'mine' content from posts past!
Earth care is a great focus for April! One of my to-dos this week is to write to our…
Congratulations! You did it and I have enjoyed reading your posts.
