Home Opener - 2023

From our engagement photo shoot at the top of the Mets dugout at Citifield

Since baseball season started ahead of the UBC kicking off, I decided to post a blog for the Mets home opener instead of the season opener.

As a lifelong Mets fan, I know pain, I know disappointment but I gotta tell ya, every year I come back to my team hopeful that they'll have a good year, that I'll enjoy watching more games than not and maybe, just maybe, one of these years they'll go all the way. I was 6 when they won their last World Series, so....maybe this year please?

The Mets opened the season on the road, and well, these last 3 games ahead of coming home were not good. The team seems shaky, everyone is getting hurt, and they lost 2 of those games really, really badly. I am excited though that Tylor Megill will have the ball tomorrow. Check out last year's blog about Opening Day and then the blog I posted the next day, with my recap of how it went for Tylor in You're Ready Right Now. It's about baseball, but it's also about each of us and seizing an opportunity.

I don't have tickets yet but hope to get to Citi Field at least once. If you're planning a visit, here are the vegan options this year. I don't understand why they don't offer vegan hot dogs, I mean come on, at the ballpark??

At the game last year, I had the Beyond Sausage & Peppers and the Vegan City Burger, both were excellent. I wanted to cap it off with some Dole Whip but never made it over to that section. Fingers crossed I'll get there this season!

I've never been to a Baseball, Football or Basketball game as my family isn't much into Sports. Even though my son did play Soccer and he eats, sleeps and dreams of Wrestling and Basketball. I wish your team the best and I hope you get the Dole Whip. Thank you, for sharing the menu options which I shared with my son who said the food sounded so good.

My favorite sports team is EVZ, a Swiss National (Hockey) League team. I'm trying to think if there's ANY vegan food item available at the concession stands. Maybe the Fries? Glad you get so many delicious options. Good luck, Mets!

I think you're right, I did a quick search of the team and arena and couldn't find anything that explicitly mentioned vegan food.

Thanks! Good luck EVZ!

I feel your pain! I'm a die-hard Phillies fan and when we made it to the World Series last year and lost, I was depressed for days. Here is wishing for great ball games in sunny weather at our happiest places - the ballpark! - Elisa

I felt the same after the Mets lost in the Wild Card last year, it took days for me to process after such an exciting year. Same thing in 2015, ugh, the hurt...

Yes!! It truly is such a magical place, best of luck this year...though maybe not too much...division rivals and all... 🤣

I was a Bulls fan as a kid! I'm from NJ but the first time I saw the Bulls on TV I was hooked, I was young so it was more about the colors and the logo at first but Michael Jordan didn't hurt either!

That's an impressive Vegan options list. We're LA Dodger fans but hubby has been a fan of them since they were in Brooklyn!

I feel very lucky that my team has such an extensive list. It's nice to enjoy my team and be able to eat along with everyone else.

Out of curiosity, I checked out the options at Dodger Stadium, they do have a vegan Dodger Dog! https://veggl.com/stadium-arena-cheat-sheets/dodger-stadium-vegan-options-los-angeles-dodgers/
