Vegan Food...

...in pictures

Writing 31 blogs in 31 days is no easy feat and sometimes, you have to simplify and accept when the words just aren't coming to you.

So today, I am going to share some food photos from some incredible vegan restaurants I had the opportunity to visit last year.

First up, The Baklava Lady in Englishtown, NJ. OMG is all I have to say about everything. The cafe is so cute, the staff is really friendly, and the food....well, see for yourself

Strawberry matcha, I also had Turkish coffee while there and took a Baklava Latte to go but forgot to take a picture of either of them
Vegan Turkish Breakfast Board
Turkish Breakfast Board - this was my "main" course, the bread was so warm, crispy on the outside and SO soft on the inside. The tomatoes and cucumbers perfectly seasoned, the preserves, the butter, the cheese (I gave the olives to my mom and husband to share - they said they were delicious)...this was so good that I don't know if I can ever go here and not order this. I had also ordered a spinach borek which was also to die for, but, much like the beverages noted above I forgot to take a photo
Vegan steak and pide dish
This was the special of the day, both my husband and my mom got this. I can't remember what it was called but they both loved it!
Vegan Baklava Cupcake
Pistachio Baklava cupcake. I wish I had gotten baklava too, that one square on top was not enough

I can't wait to go back!

Next up is a quick stop for breakfast when we were in Raleigh last month, Pure Vegan Cafe. Veena, the owner was on Did You Bring the Hummus last year, you can listen to her episode here. We had ordered take out as well and had the breakfast burger and buffalo chik'n sandwich. also ate here in 2024 where we tried the nachos which were amazing!! Everything on the menu is so good! I also love that they have a wall of art that you can buy through donating to a local farm animal sanctuary, Blind Spot Animal Sanctuary.

Finally, we ordered take out from Element Gastropub also in Raleigh. I can't wait for our next visit so we can go here and sit down instead of getting take out. Let me tell you though, this was the greatest cheesesteak I have ever eaten (yes, I am even including those I ate before going vegan) and it was packed for takeout! I can't even imagine how it would have blown my mind had we eaten there.

This picture doesn't even do it justice

Thanks for coming along on this little culinary exploration! I hope if you find yourself in the area of any of these restaurants that you'll stop in!

Tell me in the comments below - do you have a favorite vegan restaurant? If not, tell me which of these foods I've shared in this blog that sounds the best to you.

I've never been to an exclusively vegan restaurant. i do have a favorite vegetarian one, it is a buffet, and they offer many vegan choices. Your The Baklava Lady looks absolutely amazing!

Breitenbush Hot Springs retreat and Conference Center, in the Oregon Cascades!

The kitchen has served organic vegetarian and a wildlife sanctuary since Alex Beamer got the center in 1977! I lived there in the early 90s, and they already served vegan options - clearly marked special diet (which guests requested upon registration).

By the time our family went off gluten in 2009, BB consistently offered gluten free options as well - and added a binder with a page listing every ingredient in each item on the buffet line for each day's meals, plus labeling V and GF beside items on the whiteboard! (Yes, even the tea or cooler ingredients - mixed up using bulk herbs/ fruit!)

Since the bread has…
