Start your day by setting an intention

Starting your day with Intention Is a simple way to connect your magical practice and the mundane every single day.

Many of us begin our day with a favorite beverage, whether It's coffee, tea, or even an energy drink, these beverages are often an anchor or a message to ourselves that our day Is ready to begin. This Is the perfect time to set your Intention for the day. The Intention can be general, perhaps a mood or energy you plan to bring to the day or It can be specific to an activity (I will answer Kimberly's questions about podcasting from Day 1) or event.

Practice:

  • As you gather your mug or glass, take a moment to check in with your energy, take a few deep breaths while you get set up (pouring the coffee Into your mug, pouring water over the tea bag...)

  • With your morning beverage In your mug or glass, take a moment to wrap both hands around the vessel and think about what It Is you need or want for the day as you breath In and out.

  • Finally take a spoon and speak your intention out loud or in your mind while stirring clockwise If you are calling something In and counterclockwise If you are hoping to stop or not do something that day. If you are adding another liquid to your beverage (I sometimes like oat or pistachio milk In my coffee) you can stir this In now using your spoon. You can also stir the spoon In the drink as-Is, no additional liquids required to stir In the Intention.

  • Once you feel the Intention Is set for you, thank your divine connection (Inner guidance/higher self/angels/guides/god/goddess...etc. you get the picture.)

  • Your Intention for the day Is now set and you can move Into the next phase of your morning

Need a little Inspiration to get started? Here are some Intentions I have set:

  • I will be productive and patient today (clockwise)

  • I will put my health/myself first today (clockwise)

  • I will speak kindly to myself today (clockwise)

  • I will not complain today (sometimes, we need to complain, that's perfectly okay, but when we notice It's becoming a pattern that Is leaving us feeling stuck, It's time to see about not engaging with It) (counterclockwise)

  • I will take the next step on x project today (clockwise)

Nothing like smell of morning coffee. Like the two witchy mugs.

I'm glad to have seen this post today. Because I set informal intentions but not specific morning ones. But today, I paused just like you suggested, and set an intention for today to lean into the rainy day energy and have a reading rest or two.
