On Saturday, I attended a wonderful talk by Gene Baur, co-founder of Farm Sanctuary at Ethos Farm to Health. In celebration of the sanctuary's 40th anniversary, Gene Is promoting his new book, Farm Sanctuary, The Story of a Movement, which Is an absolutely gorgeous book full of photos and history of Farm Sanctuary.

It was a beautiful fall day with the perfect breeze as we listened to Gene talk about his path to co-founding Farm Sanctuary and all of the work they have done to make a difference In this world that sees so many animals not for the Individuals they are but as commodities to be used, consumed, and sometimes, simply thrown away.

Check out some photos from Farm Sanctuary's Watkins Glen, NY location as well as Woodstock Farm Sanctuary In High Falls, NY In a previous blog: Wordless Wednesday

Here are some photos from Saturday:

I told you it was a gorgeous day!

JP made a new friend! This katydid just hopped up onto his shoulder and eventually onto his hat. I love them so I was very happy to see this friend. Once they made it onto JP's hat I took the hat over to the tall grasses and allowed the katydid to make their way back into the field.

We're always super happy to be at Ethos! JP and I are all decked out in Farm Sanctuary gear.

What made the day even better? Getting to spend it with friends! Especially Jen of The Confident Vegan and her son!

It Is always so Incredible to attend an event that leaves you feeling hopeful despite all of the work that still needs to be done. We'll never stop fighting to change the systems to free animals and humans from oppression. Until all of us are free, none of us are free.

What a beautiful day for this. I love attending events that leave you feeling hopeful and remind you that people really can make a difference. And I love that the katydid decided to join you too! So cool.
